Maltese Health Foster Care Guidelines
Foster dogs stay in temporary homes while Maltese Hearts finds their permanent families. When a Maltese enters our care, their previous owner has surrendered all rights. Therefore, our foster homes must provide a safe, loving environment until the dog is ready for adoption. As a special and often fragile breed, Maltese need dedicated individuals to offer this vital temporary care. Consequently, we require all foster applicants to complete our approval process. Veterinary Care
Maltese Hearts covers all pre-approved veterinary expenses for foster dogs. First, please discuss any medical needs with a board member to receive pre-approval, except in a life-threatening emergency. Additionally, you must notify your board contact with the veterinarian’s details before any visit unless it is an emergency, in which case you must provide the information immediately afterward. We pay clinics directly; simply have them call your contact for approval and payment details. If you must pay upfront during an emergency, we will reimburse you upon receiving the original bill. foster care adoption australia
